The Unholy Result of a One Night Stand between Card-based Role-playing Games and a Mostly Ridiculous Party is here

New to the world, an outrageous game that brings you social group humiliation with a revenge system, re-launching on Kickstarter

Amsterdam based developers Johno Franklin and Phil Melchers announce the relaunch of their premiere Kickstarter project: BARPIG, The Adventure Party Game. Inspired from games like Munchkin, Exploding Kittens, and Ring of Fire, BARPIG joins these greats as the pig-fect way to liven up any party.

Released originally to market as BaRPG (A Bar...RPG) for a limited 200 product run, this prototype game had completely sold out after only 6 months. Using the feedback the developers garnered from BaRPG, they then continued development to create their first edition of BARPIG.

The game has been playtested countless times with a wide demographic, from tabletop aficionados to boardgame novices, and continues to be well received and loved at demonstration and showcase events. By March this year, Johno and Phil’s simple hobby project become a fully-fledged Kickstarter extravaganza.

This first campaign, also their first ever Kickstarter project, received 164 backers and brought Johno and Phil to just under their funding goal at €4,010. Since then they have reached out to their followers and addressed lessons learned from the past campaign. Thanks to that amazing feedback, as well as enlisting the support of professional designer Frederick van de Bunt, BARPIG has been visually redeveloped and polished off, ready once more to face the world on Kickstarter.

The game will launch as ready for production with all design and artwork completed, and will feature on Kickstarter for €20 (US$ 22), with limited early birds starting at €9 (US$ 9.90).

About the Game:
Imagine if you could embody a hero character with the power to challenge or otherwise embarrass your friends. But be careful, for those same friends wield powerful item cards that threaten to change the game at any moment! Now combine this with a leveling system to keep it competitive and a damage system to make it vindictive and this is BARPIG: The Unholy Result of a One Night Stand Between Card-Based Role-Playing Games and a Mostly Ridiculous Party.

Players take turns based on a dice roll to come one level closer to the winning level 5, whilst challenging fellow players to silly group activities and challenges. Losing these minigames not only cost you precious drinks on your bar tab, but also impact your character’s sobriety. Lose too many sober points and your character might find him/her-self ‘blacking out’ (sending you back to level 1)!  Help is at hand however, in form of fun and wacky items. ‘Bought’ using that same bar tab, these have a multitude of effects like changing the group challenge, stealing the winning dice roll, or even cancelling another just-played item. What started as a series of drunken puns written down on a bar napkin one fateful night has evolved into a truly outrageous game, and our out of control hobby. Oh, and there will be pigs!
